You can still run Shopping ads the old way, but Google’s Performance Max is now the easiest and most powerful way to set up and manage these ads.
Performance Max runs your campaigns using a combination of your product list, the words and pictures you provide, and Google’s smart tools. It gives you a simple way to show your products across all of Google’s ad channels.
While Performance Max can be helpful for quickly setting up ads across many places, it isn’t perfect right away.
We do not suggest using it without careful watching and expert guidance.
Here are a few reasons why:
It takes time. Because this plan covers everything, Performance Max takes longer to show its best results. You should let it run for at least six weeks before deciding if it’s working.
You can’t control where ads show up.
Google does not let you choose exactly where your ads go.
Even though you can see reports of where your ads appear, you cannot change it yourself right now.
This can be a problem if you care much about where your ads and brand name appear.
The better Performance Max will work, the more items you sell. It’s harder for it to improve if you have only a few products.
If you want to use this tool, be careful and plan wisely.
Test your ideas, and don’t spend all your ad money immediately.
The more you prepare now, the better you will do when Google makes all ads run this way.
